An Autumn Craft Fayre is taking place on Saturday October 9 from 10am to 4pm alongside a beautiful riverside setting outside Jelleyman’s Mill, a former rope mill at the bottom of Puxton Lane in Kidderminster.
Coralie Hudson, event organiser said: “We are looking forward to what we plan to be the first of many events showcasing the grade II listed mill. So many local people rarely get the opportunity to see this hidden gem. And after the many months we have all spent apart, we are really looking forward to seeing our community come together to enjoy a wonderful day outside where we can all feel safe. Everyone is welcome.”
The now derelict mill was built by Francis Jelleyman around 1875 and was originally used for making tarpaulin but later became an important building within local carpet production.
Supported by Bond Worth Carpets Ltd and Mrs. Jelleyman’s Wonder Emporium a candle maker at the site who will also have a stall on the day, the free event will include over 25 craft and gift stalls, music including live performances from Steve and Ella Low as Ampersand, children’s activities including free face painting as well as refreshments including a bar, hot drinks and food.
Mark Oakes, managing director of Bond Worth, said: “Jelleyman’s Mill is one of Kidderminster’s best kept secrets and we would like to open it up with this craft fayre being the first of many events we are going to host. The mid to long term aim is to restore the building and further preserve Kidderminster’s industrial, cultural and creative heritage.”
